Question: Is the contamination and production of anti-bodies an on going and continuous process or does it only occur at the time of the operation?

Amazing, another “Lister” giving the world an incredible new (sic) revelation.
I’ve got one… smoking can lead to…hummm… I know… cancer.

Was that bitch kidding? The production of ASABs is freakin insidious. The body can develop a host of autoimmune conditions (like maybe... a cerebral lesion). No offense to those who’ve had a vasectomy, but many researchers have known about the effects of breaching the BTB from animal studies for at least a century. My high school biology teacher was talking about the danger of this procedure back in the 70’s!

My advice, hook-up with a top law firm, and sue the crap out of your hospital and physician if they failed to warn you of this possibility (an autoimmune condition). Then, have your lawyers send me the 5% referral fee.

The scary part of this; I believe exercise could contribute to any blood-spermatozoa contamination by inducing a BP increase (especially any valsalva maneuver).

Want to know how to kill a T-cell? This is one way. LOL laugh.gif

I'd like to respond to the scientist and doctors who say that having a vasectomy may lead to PPA causing a form of Dementia Later in Life. Well my DaD Had a Vacectomy 35 years ago and a few years ago Died of jacob Disease makes me wonder just what the hell killed my father who was in very tip top physical shape till he in trusted a few doctors now I Have lost my Father.

Greg,

Other than possibly confusing the cause, diagnosed amyloid cerebral plaque can be present in both cases. While I suppose anything is possible (prion mutation or your father possessing both issues; CJ Disease and a breach in the BTB) I can't see the correlation.

I could project a theory that coincides with a hypothesis I've had for years regarding spermatozoa, but it would require a hell of a lab and a lot of financial backing.

Continue to ask others who are more knowledgeable and have the resources available to conduct the research.

Good luck

Certain organs – including the testes and the brain – exist in what is the equivalent of a gated community in the body. Tiny tubes within the testes (in which sperm are produced) are protected by a physical barrier of Sertoli cells. The tight connections between these cells prevent blood-borne infections and poisonous molecules from entering the semen.

After a vasectomy, however, the protective barrier is broken and semen mixes into the blood. The immune system recognizes the sperm as invading foreign agents and produces anti-sperm antibodies in 60 to 70 percent of men.

Weintraub said these antibodies might cross the blood-brain-barrier and cause damage resulting in dementia. "There are other neurological models of disease which you can use as a parallel," Weintraub said. Certain malignant tumors produce antibodies that reach the brain and cause an illness similar to encephalitis, she noted.

Incredible that this connection has been observed, I had no idea! One must be warned that this medical malady may be a symptom when recieving a vasectomy from now forward? It seems to be a rather strange phenomenon, but one men should be aware of.
