hasnt there been another recent case re false claims aout this sort of research?
Nick
Some people won't be justified until they are doing something wrong. Such are these scientists. There are other ways of getting these stem cells you know.

But they will not be as useful or beneficial - adult stem cells, for example, are extremely difficult to culture and very rare. So far, there are no other ways of getting embryonic stem cells, which have huge potential since they can become so many different types of cells (where adult stem cells generally can't).
Nick
There are other stem cells with the same potential. But you will insist on doing the wrong thing won't you?

Like which ones?
Nick
Adult stem cells will do the job. There also are umbilical stem cells to work with.

Adult and umbilical stem cells DON'T have the same potential. Adult stem cells are much more difficult to work with and have a limited number of cells that they can turn into (it depends on where they were taken from). Umbilical stem cells are also limited and less flexible than embryonic stem cells.
Nick
I think you have been misled. But you are inclined so.

Of course all wrong people will argue that their wrong is better than your right.

It is a matter of right and wrong isn't it?

No, it's a matter of SCIENTIFIC FACT. Ever heard of that??

I'm not saying that adult and umbilical stem cells should not be used - on the contrary I think that they will be very promising and probably used more than embryonic stem cells. They are already being used in treatments. However, embryonic stem cells have so much potential that could be used in treating so many more diseases that it is a shame that people can not figure something out.
Nick
Fact?

That is not what I've heard. What makes it a fact?

News is adult stem cells have the same potential.

Which fact are you going to pick van? As if I don't already know.
