I am interested in any ideas using nanotechnology for a science fair project. My science teacher says there aren't any, but I wanted to check with people who have knowledge about nanotech. We need to conduct an experiment, collect data of some sort, present our findings, and write a research paper. I am very interested in nanotechnology, but can't find an example of a good experiment. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
kaneda
Nanotechnology is a high tech field. The nearest we had to it when I was at school four decades ago was a bowl of water, a very fine dusting of talcum powder on it and then a drop (of set size) of oleic acid dropped onto it, creating a circle in the powder. Oleic acid forms a surface one molecule thick so we were able to calculate (very accurately it turned out), the size of a single molecule.

You could make a representation of a bucky tube using black ping pong balls and make a model of what you think a nanotech engine would look like, both with scales next to them to give some idea of size, as well as an explanation?
