If HD-DVD had just a little more room on the disc(like the bluray), maybe they could put the HiDef trailer and subtitles there, instead of makin u download them.

huh.gif Also toshiba says that the reason i buy a BD movie is because i dont have enough games..? ***? True that there arent too many games for the PS3 now, but that has NOTHING to do with the fact that i buy Bluray movies... people always wanted to own movies. Period. Toshiba should try not going in denial... They screwed up by not having the HD DVD player as standard in the X360. Why they did not includ the HD player in their new X360 version(360 pro, or whatever its called) baffles me.

Also the 30% high definition player marketshare that sony has only accounts for non PS3 units? Ok, they must think i buy BD movies so i can view them on my standard DVD player wink.gif

In my not so humble opinion, since BluRay has been adopted by Disney, I don't think HD DVD stands a chance of winning this battle. If it's good enough for Disney, it's good enough for me. Meanwhile, though, I'm hedging my bets by getting a dual player so I can enjoy the best of both. Then, if/when the battle settles out, the player itself will become an interesting piece of history, and just possibly, a collector's item that will return my initial investment with a profit.

ohmy.gif WOW! You two posters need to do your homework!

The Persistent Storage in the HD-DVD players is ~ 151 MB!

Most of the HD-DVD discs do have all of the main Trailers and subtitles on the disc with in 15 or 30 GB!

The Internet downloaded options allows a movie studio to be able to provide the subtitles in ANY language they can create! (50 GB) would be nice but it can not be dynamically UPDATED or AUGMENTED! Same with the Movie Trailers! This allows the studios and the Film Makers to be creative. And from a marketing perspective, allow the studios to add extensibility to films you may already have in your library, so that you now WANT to buy them again, in the new format! rolleyes.gif

Toshiba and the DVD Forum (the STANDARDS body for all things DVD related, which BTW, does NOT include Blu-Ray) are not stupid nor do they think that you are either! Of course you can not watch your BD or HD-DVD Movies on a SD DVD player!

M$ makes the decisions for the X-BOX 360 not Toshiba, so I suggest that take that issue up with them! I'm sure they have some good reasons, just as Sony did when they delayed the PS3 to get the Blu-Ray drives included into that platform. (Maybe not such a great move in hindsight, eh Nintendo?)

Disney while being a self proclaimed entertainment powerhouse, does not solely drive the Movie industry. Sony's own philosophies are somewhat hypocritical, in the sense that they Stated that they did not want to produce on an HD format that was endorsed by the porn industry.... this smacks of Moral High Ground to me or just plain BS. mad.gif Did this apply to DVD, what about DIVX? When in-fact, Disney owns Touchstone Pictures, which has produced some very border line films, if you ask me! wink.gif Also, exactly why is it that EVERYONE else in the Movie industry can MASS produce their movies that retail at $19.99 or less but Disney movies tend to be $24.99 and up? If you wish to follow Disney, wherever they go, so be it. I would advise you to just make sure you go to the back of the church or school house first, so you can catch them sneaking out of the back to pick up some naughty stuff, on their way straight to the BANK (with our money)! biggrin.gif

I would suggest that you investiGATE before you HATE!

You Can Start Your Journey to HD Disc Enlightenment HERE:
