Regularly eating yogurt and other foods with lactic acid may be good for your mouth. Consuming yogurt and lactic acid drinks was significantly associated with better periodontal health. But, milk and cheese were not. It is found that people with generalized (more advanced) periodontal disease had a lower intake of lactic acid foods than people with localized (less advanced) periodontal disease.

Yogurt or yogurt, is a dairy product produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. Fermentation of the milk sugar (lactose) produces lactic acid, which acts on milk protein to give yoghurt its texture and its characteristic tang. Yoghurt substitutes can be made from soya milk.
