Do you reckon wormholes are really possible? Is it possible to have a shortcut through space-time? Is it possible to have a 4D tunnel through space? Too many questions? Oh well.

I reckon wormholes are possible.

yes worm holes are possible, 'short cuts though space' if u will. if u imagine the the universe not like a dinner table but more like the table cloth scrunched up into a ball. although highly unlikely, in theory it is possible say 'short cut' from one corner of the table cloth to the other, if and only if a wormhole can be established.

to think about this in a practical sense, say the table cloth is scrunched up and 2 of the corners are touching each other within the 'ball' so to speak. the corners would be so close that hoping from 1 corner to the other should 'theoretically' be possible.

As long as they only function within the universe they exist within, and that the laws of the universe they exist within allow them, then it is possible yes. Now we just have to figure out if the laws of this universe do indeed allow them and that there is natural phenomena out there to create them.

"Natural phenomena" are probably not the only way to create a wormhole.

Technology to create wormholes could possibly be invented.

By the way,

It's "theoretically" be possible, but is it possible in practice?

Probably, yes. But even if you could create a wormhole, all sorts of problems would probably arise, like trouble with stability etc. (I use the word 'probably' too much, dont I?)

gizmo what were you trying to say in that last statement? i mean you quoted me what for?? and i don't believe that we will be able to travel though a wormhole and there is no way that a human made machine would be able to create a wormhole that was capable of transporting people from one side of the Galaxy to the other safely.
like i said "theoretically" possible.

Wormholes are somewhat like the universe having a psychotic experience, from our view that is smile.gif. And the universe prefer to stay sane...
Skum of the universe
I predict that wormholes may be possible, but travel through (safely) certainly will not be, if you imagine a scenario like the fabric of the universe being scrunched so that there's a "shortcut" through the fabric to the other side what is the possibility that it will be a perfectly nice tube we can fly straight through? chances are the hole might be too small to fit entirely through, or perhaps wed just get crushed into spaghetti to fit in, and also if you think of it as a hole literally in the metaphorical fabric, in my opinion there would be a distinct chance that there wouldn't Also happen to be a second hole on the other side as well, seems to me improbable that either natural or anthropogenic wormholes would be anything like driving through a tunnel in a road. it would probably be more like try to navigate an elephant through a wall with a pin-hole on one side and solid concrete on the other, which might prove problematic.

lots of scientific speculation blink.gif

like i said "theoretically" possible, possible in pratice as well, maybe

A wormhole would have to lead to a "White Hole'. There is only one white hole known in our universe, what we call the Big Bang. I believe all wormholes would ONLY lead there.
