The (How it goes)? adage of working in space, on the International Space Station seems to be tailored to a more unified approach, rather than a reliance on any one nationalism.
There is extolling of the virtues and character of one’s country, however’ by and large there seems to be a real cohesiveness, in trying to consolidate the on board ISS population, into one coalescent work force.

A structural reason for this on board attitude, might be that other differing countries that support an astronaut mission specialist to the confines of the ISS, may have to work closely without political ideologies in order to accomplish a planned task.

Two, there is always the danger that if the ISS should loose structural hull integrity, say through some mishap, then either you, or the person closest to you, might act in order to preserve your life and or wellness.
