I found this thread from 15 months ago and wondered if this is still the situation:

Guys,

Avatars are not supported by our board for some reason.
We have to find a way to live without them. smile.gif
Luckily we have smilies.

Every other forum I go to has pictures and animated gifs. Not a major moan but may brighten the place up a bit.

They probably fear that once they do that some pervert will put up a picture of a woman's nipple for his avatar. wink.gif

Exactly. Once we allowed it and got yet another headache.
These forums are supposed to be for "serious" people, not for "kids" that want to play around with their avatars.

That is a pack of lies. Medicine is all about fear of day to day employment, patients family trying to kill you, everybody trying to sue you, ppl looking at you like you are eating their money, and worst of all risk of getting needle sticked and die of HIV after years of study because a patient was mentally unstable enough to stab you with his blood. I dont think any of you ppl understands whta medicine is all about. It is about years of your life wasting away into oblivion and you having to see and tolerate the most gross horrid ***. I really dont think that actor portrays the truth. He is just the febricate creation of a lazy bum whose job is to keep viewers stuck to their chair while they are fed with untrue garbage.

I've a similar problem by now:

THE FOLLOWING ERROR(S) WERE FOUND

Sorry, but you have posted more images than you are allowed to...

Of course, picture linked size remains unlimited, so I don't understand the exact reason of such restriction, if you don't limit picture size ot number of words used in post by the same time...

Should I generate a more posts instead? How I can include a more formulas in one post like this one in more complex equation derivations? Are you considering MathML support in the future instead?

But it is still a nice avatar.

Now, would you like a chill pill?

Seeings how I am not a doctor I can not judge one way or another....but what I do know for sure is that House is an entertaining show! And since thats the whole point of it, it is a great show! TV isn't supposed to be truthful, but entertaining....it is just another type of fiction right? I mean look at those crime shows.....boy they sure are the picture of truth also right?

Hi, thanks for consideration of my note concerning limit of image count, which can be embedded into single post. smile.gif

Furthermore, I recommend to reconsider the new limit of embedded picture size in posts, as the previous limit (400 pixels in width, or so) was quite OK and my pictures were optimized on such resolution.

The current picture size limit (250 px in width) is quite low, but I can live with it, of course (better something, than nothing, indeed)...

Question:
If we can't have an avatar, then why is there a link called "Avatar Options" on my controls? That's deceiving. dry.gif

No, I agree with Neutron. Thank you guys for not letting pictures come in, becaue with pictures comes a form of public indication of one's desires, believes, and even thoughts, and that can adversly affect a person's argument because things are different in color than they are in plain text. So I like to as usuall suck up to physorg by saying good job. tongue.gif

On the contrary, when it comes to picture, it becomes evident, who understands it's own ideas or not, just because things can be different "in color". Of course, the picture isn't replacement of plain text, just supplement - but it's a feature of each modern hypertext forum. As well known rule, a single bitmap is worth a 10E+3 bytes.

Without pictures we can use gopher or telnet till this time without problem. The arguments for picture embedding in post has nothing to do with avatars and I can live a quite well without avatars or even emoticons.

The restriction of picture size bellow 300 px has no sense, as it doesn't influence a download times and most of browsers are handling picture size automatically. Frankly, I don't understand the reasons, which lead to restriction of maximal image size after two years of forum existence.

But still, pictures are ways for everyone to know each other more. It's an insight to someone's perspectives and ideas. And that's a signature. It makes you unique. But anyways, I still love physorg even though they won't allow too much pics. It's still the best website ever!!

Love you all! smile.gif
