But thanks for this, because it gave me the history behind the court case Newman v. Quigg which is behind the supreme court case Daubert v. Dow Pharmaceuticals. This principle that the Supreme Court requires Federal judges to screen out "speculative or ill-founded science." As to your request for more people like Joseph Newman, there is zero evidence to back Joseph Newman's claim that he is any good type of scientist, or even a skilled mechanical engineer.

What separates a skilled scientist from a failed scientist is the unflinching ability to apply a methodical skepticism to both one's own ideas and the ideas of others. So while some scientists may have an ego, their ego is not the part of them that helps them do science.
