I'm sorry, what does that have to do with you selectively quoting from the CIA factbook, and lying about what it says?

titor
its says 16-49

thats no lie

its only a lie because would like to think so, are you selectively reading it

Military service age and obligation:
18 years of age (17 years of age with parental consent) for male and female voluntary service; maximum enlistment age 42 (Army), 27 (Air Force), 34 (Navy), 28 (Marines); service obligation 8 years, including 2-5 years active duty (Army), 2 years active (Navy), 4 years active (Air Force, Marines) (2008)

That's the paragraph immediately preceeding the portion you excerpted.

If you didn't see it, it's because you didn't bother to read the page. If you saw it, you're a lying sh*t.

Stupid or lying, which is it?
titor
so did they make a mstake in the data following

why collect stats from 16-49

Or does it mean they would accept a 16 year old at a pitch

They did in the Civil War

You know its 3pm on a sunday here, its the middle of winter, its 20 c outside and sunny, what is comforting is that with all your intelligence this winter you will be shoveling snow out of your driveway in order to get your car out.

While this Dingo Crap will be at the beach, which is approx 10 mins walk from my home.

I will think of you both, LOL only kidding, I won't think of you at all

Your starting to become boring

And although I really enjoyed taking the piss out of you, I have to go now

How about you both get together and in typical American fashion watch the football and crack open a bud
AlexG
Both, apparently.

There goes that stupidity again... Winter in the southern hemisphere is summer in the northern hemisphere. It's a wonderful 82° out right now, with not a cloud in the sky.

Oh, and for the record: It never snows where I live, and I live closer to the beach than you. wink.gif

Apparently, you're delusional as well as stupid.

I also live close to the sea .. the surf comes in every shade from ___ smile.gif ___ to O ****. Also moon over sea, sunrise over sea - various combinations of cloud/wind/temperature/surf - each and every one special in its own way. Mollypants reduces this to "I live closer to the beach than you do" - conbleedingratulations peasant.
RobDegraves
I live further from the beach than all of you and it gets really cold in winter... really cold.

Do I win a prize or something?

I didn't know that closeness to the beach increased one's mental capacity. Now that Titor has pointed that out... I am a bit upset with my lack of beachness.
titor
Hi RobDegraves

Sorry to hear you are so far from the sea.

After living in your country , I really wondered how you coped.

Its bitterly cold in the winter, not something I was used to.

Its presents all sorts of problems which your probably take for granted

Even LA has a colder winter than Sydney

Anyway, all the best

Regards

Titor

I live 80 miles from the ocean. I can't stand the beach, except on cool cloudy days and night. I hate the heat. I dislike summer. bring on the cool breezy mountains! The lush ground! The waterfalls and moss and mountain streams you can drink from! And bring on Fall and Winter! biggrin.gif

This is ridiculous, and here's why.

You want to know why collect stats from 16-49?

Because in any year, those people that are aged 16 will become elligible for military service - they're the manpower about to become available, also, depending on whether the census was conducted before, or after their birthday, they may already be elligible with parental consent.

So the 16 year olds are included because they represent those people that are elligible, because they have since turned 17, or will be elligible in the near future.

Likewise:
42 (Maximum enlistment age) + 8 (Service obligation)=50

So, where 16 is included because that's the population about to 'enter service' 49 is included because that's the population expected to leave service, so for any rolling 12 month period, those people in the age range 16-49 represent the maximum available military manpower, including those about to become elligible, and those about to become inelligible - of course, not all of these people are fit for service, because they're too old, too young, or some other exclusion criteria applies.

I'm less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean. Since it's so large and I'm so close then I must be the next Einstein.

Bow down to me you mere mortals.
