All I know is that this is a picture of some thing called "SoM"

Can anyone help me identifying what this "SoM" means and also the names of 2 scientists who are associated with this?

My first guess was the School of Metaphysics but then I did a little digging, and found out about Self Organizing Map research, which seems somehow more likely.

A Self Organizing Map being a map that shows relationships in a neural network.

And as far as two names associated with it.

There's the two mentioned in Wiki (assuming the article is accurate) Teuvo Kohenen, the professor who first described it, and Alfred Ultsch.

That should be plenty to get you started on what ever you're doing.

The image on the link in my original post doesn't look like any map at all..

I too did some digging and couldn't find any 'self-organising map' image that shows even slight resemblance to the image in the link.

The image looks like some kind of electric field..

Could SoM mean 'Self organisation mechanism'?
