Did marijuanaville in the start of rock and roll era, act as a smoothing behavioral moderator for then known mankind?

This is a tricky supposition, as I don't wish to promocate any sort of drug use, but am merely asking a question.
I had noticed, as groups of people before the crackdown on older forms of drug use, that certain groups of marijuana users, seemed more peaceful, less ill at ease.

This was a social cult based on the use of the a drug, but also seemed to fashion types of mini-societies, which seemed more peaceful.

Mankind, anymore seems almost shattered in his natures, violent, hopeless.

The new sorts of mass intended pharmocologies, release endorphins, which does not work on the body design of many people. There are some complaints about these drugs, including headaches, as one of the indicators.

All I am asking, was the group use of marijuana, maybe coupled with arts and music, some pharmo-bio formula, that calmed man to a less violent, less befuddled profile?

*This re seeking this action, in all probability would be offset by the compression manifold noted to happen within the book, Future Shock.

More or less asking, why for a time, this did work?

Hi Philip,
This is a good question and, despite having been a part of that generation, I am not really confident I can give you an accurate analysis - or maybe that should be BECAUSE I was a part of it!!! I have often thought that those who gravitated toward the psychedelic drug culture were a post-war generation who were living in a rather depressed world in which the establishment was still pushing the old certainties that were taken for granted in the period between the two world wars. The fifties were claustrophobic and colourless and the young people were looking for something new. Ideas which would have emerged and quickly faded away in earlier generations took hold at that time because of the emerging new communications technologies - music, new philosophical thinking, advances in science were all a part of that process, as were the drugs - and the drugs were just another way of pushing out the barriers. Perhaps the best answer I can venture is that the drugs maybe took the hard edges off the rate of change that was happening - we sure did not want to go back to the old ways but we had fears for the way things were shaping up for the future - don´t forget the rate of change was probably at a level never witnessed before or since - we were on the Moon in 1969 - less than 30 years after the development of basic rocketry - and confidently expected to be on Mars by 1979. The Cold War was about as hot as it ever got - 15 years after the first atomic bomb. New freedoms, new fears, new opportunities new threats, new promises, new hope !!!Man, I´m gettin nostalgic - why the hell didn´t we keep going ?
AND, ya - the grass was great

"Grass"

I haven't heard that for years. That dated you Edward.

But now that I think of it, anyone under 45 who partakes of natures bounty should give us ancients a hearty thanks for a job well done. It was our persistence and dedication that makes it now possible for them to walk around with goodies in their pockets and only fear a slap on the hand.

There should be a day dedicated to us!

I think that it was something in the determination of the planet itself. If marijuana is a female herb, then it could be equated to the mother nature factor, in the control of physiologies.
What is of interest, are the small groups of people, that potentially had good incomes, did partake of this substance, however in most respects, stayed c socially clean and did not move to harder drugs.
The era was one of technical innovation, but it seemed that some sought to find the use as some sort of social and physical moderator.

What is odd, is that marijuana has some medical use now, with therapies given.
So it seems that this was not a fad use era.

The LSD community, was it seemed of some that had bad or subject mental programming or ticks, but needed a counter programming, so partook of lysergic acid, to scramble the input and alter to programming so to speak.

I think that the chemical issues, were of a {phyto-gluti-corti-steriod} or carefully structured pant hormone.
Marijuana might have acted as a super-salad of sorts, on those who needed it, or smoked it?

Thanks’ so far!

Orestis,
I didn´t even know the term had gone out of fashion - that´s how "dated" I am - and I´ve had to lay off the stuff since I had my heart by-pass surgery - makes the old pump really go bumpety-bump, and if i reveal any more you´ll be using carbon dating on me !!
Make our day sometime in Summer - I need a good supply of flowers to cover the bald patches!
peace
