No, say it isn"t true! The stuff that comes out of volcanoes is exactly the same stuff that comes out of our smokestacks & auto-tailpipes. So to ensure life on earth does not someday go into a tailspin due to decreases in volcanic activity, we should encourage China & India to build more factories & power plants without "scrubbers" on them.

The article doesn't claim that CO2 from terrestrial Volcanoes increases the O2 levels, only that more modern terrestrial volcanoes are less destructive to O2 levels than the lower temp submarine volcanoes that were common in the Archaean period.
