Any theory about painters must account for both their vision of their subject and ALSO their vision of their painting!

I think this is the major factor that needs to be explaind!

Since I had a Macular Hole repaired and Cataract operation operation four years ago, I have found I now see colours differently through each eye. My right eye now has a shift towards warmer colours and as I tend to close this eye when trying to see clearly, my paintings have an altogether cooler aspect. I also find I am favouring larger brushes and concentrating on areas of tone rather than the linear style I had when I was younger - I am now 74. With any artist there is a conflict between what the eye sees and what the brain 'knows' so vision defects are bound to affect the finished painting.
