I would like to know please on the subject of androids, is the area of development on near human-like androids, open at this point in time, or is this issue something that is being swept under the curtain of the government or those in power?
Id like to know as what the Japanese have, is a ridiculous proposition, as their walking robot products, will never get out of their factories and to the public at the rate of development they have now.
Thank you, whoever you are and Im asking all sectors?

There is much development going on in fields which will be necessary to the construction of human-like androids. There are still very large barriers in the realms of AI and motion. MIT has had several leading-edge research projects in machine learning for several years now. Motion and control research is going on all over the world. IIRC, there was an article here on PhysOrg recently about a control system being developed to model bipedal walking.
In short, progress is being made, faster in motion than in AI, but the road before us is still quite long.

Hope its not a repeat of twenty years of space flights, with still no space station in orbit?

They don't want colonization because they cannot figure out how to keep control. It is NOT science that keeps us earhtbound.
This time, they want to get mercantalism right.

Phil ans> The bear swam out of the water and ran right up to the mercantiles front door, grabbed it with both paws, and frantically tried to gain access to the locked glass door.
This might have been going though the bears head, "Oh humans go in here to buy tie reeds why cant I gin entry?
I mean there is liquor, stuff to eat, things to paw at....?
The bear was finished and then ran off, not opening this door.
Actually happened, ,"Bear attempts entry into Pateros Mercantile".
He held her when she became excited, as this was anew experience for her.
He did so, so that she would not have developed the psychotic tendencies, which apart psychotic protodroids, from humans, due to the old de' sexual conflicts.
She then thanks him and said, "Did I get carried away during our talk"?
Human-man said yes, she was composed now, everything was alright.
