0.30s after seeing a puff of smoke rise from the starter's pistol, the sound of the firing of the pistol is heard by the track timer 100 m away. What is the velocity of sound?
Ron
Hi Confused,
v=d/t so v=100m/.30s =333.33m/s (2 significant digits?).
Which turns out to be pretty close to the actual speed of sound at 25C.
You should have had this formula from school. Try showing your attempts next time.
Later,
Ron
