light that hits nothing cannot be measured it has no wavelength to measure.

ShawnP
Umm.. Yes it does, you just can't measure it without touching it. It still has a wavelength.
landon
it hasno wavelength until after it has reflected off of something

if the wavelength does not exist until it is measured, then is it the emitter or receiver that decides the wavelength ?

so are you saying when we measure the wavelength, or frequency, of light from andromeda galaxy, the wavelength is translated from the source to earth instantaneously over a distance of 2.5million light years, since the light has no wavelength, or frequency, until we do measure it ?

or

are you saying that each photon that left the andromeda galaxy 2.5million years ago, predicted the wavelength that would be measured by any receiver in the universe who happens to measure the wavelength at anytime anywhere ?
landon
who flipped the switch for the sun

ok if you take all of the wave-lengths and i mean to the smallest decimal that we could not imagine and put the wave on a chart at one time then light would have no wave length because there is no wave to measure or because there is all waves to measure

tell me i am a nutcase
Gehn
Do you mean that the wavelength of the light is in a superposition of states?

it would be more like a solid stream line wave
