Is that Tom Cruise?
umm
What is this obsession with crime? I fundamentally don't understand the mindset that allows these sorts of compromises to be made in the name of combatting crime. The effect that crime has had on my life is practically nil, and I suspect it will remain so.

This is bullshit. Just because you fit the profile doesn't mean that you are going to commit murder or any other equally heinous crime. You can't identify a sociopath....I hope that they realize how ridiculous they are being. Besides, what ever happened to not stereotyping?

Let's arrest everybody. This way we'll prevent them doing crimes. Innocent until proven guilty? Obsolete. Guilty until proven innocent. And that proof must be for the future, too. So you are proven innocent after your death. The best proof: kill them all. And that's the best way of ensuring that they won't commit any crimes.

I can guess the future, too.

You guys are failures at the internet, seriously. Not only did you fail to comprehend that the article was about profiling people who had already shown a propensity towards violent crime, but you also demonstrated amazing ignorance about sociopathy- Yes, you can 'detect' it in many cases through a simple EKG test during which the subject is shown pictures of a number of things, but sociopaths don't necessarily kill people.

this is thought crime

Ahpuch is clearly irked about something someone said. Perhaps Ahpuch is slowly starting to see the harsh reality which is crashing down all around us.

Police often know who the villains are. It is just a matter of proof. Maybe they have something new?

... are creating psychological profiles...
Once an individual has been targeted, police can decide whether to make moves towards an arrest

That doesn't sound like only creating profiles. What could be profiles good for, anyway, if they aren't used for anything? And using them for anything before an innocent has committed anything is wrong.

Is ad hominem logical fallacy allowed here? I want to say something about someone that thinks he becomes right by simply calling others ignorants blink.gif

There is a bit of a catch 22 here. How do you arrest a murderer BEFORE they commit murder? It would be difficult to make the charge of NOT YET committing murder stick in a court of law, no? Or are they suggesting that we just arrest and hold people without charges or a trial because they fit a profile? Sounds like more police nocturnal emission material to me. What happens when they find out that MOST cops fit the profile, hmm?

Lock them all up including you. This is bullshit. It's because of dum asses who think well I'm not doing anything wrong that they can get away wit this crap. Take out the cause of crime not the symptoms.
Confused2
Maybe a certain amount of common sense is required here.

There wouldn't be much point in breaking into people's houses and stealing things if you knew the police would immediately break into your house and take away the stuff you've just stolen so they can give it back to the people you stole it from. And you would probably get pushed about a bit and possibly sent to prison.

"You'll hang for this!" is kind of more satisfactory last words and more likely to cause someone to change their plans compared to some sort of social worker attempt to explain to them about the help that is available to assist them to contribute more and to find their rightful place in a truly deeply caring society.

Replace 'Fear of crime' with 'Fear of committing crime' - I can't fault that - I'm not sure I can spell it either but that's not the point.

Police fitting the profile .. LOL .. good point.

"You'll hang for this!" doesn't work people have been screaming that for centrury's and crime isn't going away is it?

Maybe another approach instead of this backward midevil way?

And locking the up before they commit the crime is useless is just give an excuse do do the crime 'You get locked up anyway'
