Do you think humans will turned into hideous ugly cyborg freaks or strange grotesque cyborg abomiantons so that they'll be the laughingstocks of the world? Cyborgs are hilariously hideous, grotesque, strange, and ugly you know.

Well, everybody might laugh at them because they're cyborgs. They look ridiculous. And besides, cybernetic implants will make them ugly, cybernetic implants are ugly, and cyborgs are ugly.

If you look at what the movie industry has produced so far, it is not difficult to imagine that you would not be able to tell if a person had cybernetic limbs.

Cosmetic implants are another matter. Going by the type of alterations some people make to themselves with tattoos, piercings, brandings or even chest implants, there will no doubt be people who will take great delight in making themselves look as bizarre as possible. They aren't going to care much what you think of them.

If the enhancements do more than change a person's looks, you better do your laughing from a long distance away wink.gif

Cybernetic implants are ugly and weird-looking.

When the time comes that you can have technological artifacts directly attached to your body, it would be easy enough to make it look more human than machine, for instance having skin on top of a robotic arm. Or most implants need not be visible, but inside the body.

Unless you wanted something really weird like extra limbs or something, then there is no reason why it any implants couldnt look like the human equilivants.

Dude, they might make fun of cyborgs. They'll make fun of their appearances as hideous ugly cyborg freaks and they'll make fun of their cybernetic implants.

Oh no!

There are worse things than being made fun of or being ugly. Besides, who's going to make fun of anybody for having cyborg implants or anything similar. I think that it would be similar to people with prosthetic limbs. Nobody over the age of ten makes fun of people for such things. If they do, they are not worth listening to. As for the ugly part, why would anybody undergo a procedure that would turn them into a "hideous ugly cyborg freak?" It doesn't make sense; nobody in their right mind would design or manufacture products that would make the customer "hideous." They would not sell and the company would tank. I think your vision of cybernetic implants isn't quite grounded in reality. It sounds like something from the movies.

People will make fun of you if you are young, strong, tan and athletic, if you are loving, kind, honest and forgiving. They will find ways to make fun whether you are ugly and ridiculous looking or absolute perfection, mean people will find your one flaw and point to it. Disregaurd this it is unimportant to the broader world. You must not base anything on what judgmental persons want to cut with. Some folk find nothing sacred. There are worse thing to worry over than appearances in any future, there are soul deficits to heal.
As for cyborgs....are you thinking terminator or ? perhaps something even more scary? I hope they do make these creatures, the wierder the better maybe they will understand moi biggrin.gif .

So, they'll make fun of their cyborg implants.

They're racist against cyborgs. They'll make fun of people with ugly bionic body parts.

If you have the misfortune to be born with less than two legs then it seems reasonable to use technology to make good the deficiency. Once you've considered the advantages of having two legs it is only reasonable to analyse whether or not two legs is the optimum number. Anyone who has sat on a four legged bar stool for any length of time will know that even four legs are not sufficient to ensure stability.

This is the most surreal topic I have ever read in these forums; and surrealism isn't strange here. Harke I salute you.

I didn't expect that I'd ever laugh out loud while browsing a physics forum. Good show. cool.gif

An inflatable cyborg queen and a roll of paper towels. I guess Santa didn't get my letter.

To me, grotesque is a super model in a designer gown.

Set the toaster on "reheat".

I guess we would see some werid things. Has anyone seen the "Lizard Man" on Ripley's Believe it or not? I bet he would get a tail or something. God I'm laughing thinking about it!

Futuretalk seems to want it but the first human minds in machines are going to be a very ugly lot.

Why would they be ugly?
They would only be ugly if they were deliberately designed to look ugly. We already have the technology to produce prosthetic limbs that are difficult to tell that they are artificial. Why would cybernetic implants be any different?
