It is now clear to me that PhysOrg has changed for the worst and that this place no longer holds the appeal to my kind. A forum originally created for the free flow of data is now as much an attraction to me as a forum for teenage boys and moderators. This site has depicted in my view, a sort of obvious biase in scientific matter. Nationalism, and self love seem to be on their highest in this forum (yes specially the people who select news and mods). And no I am not in any sort of argumentations with any of the admins or moderators and I do not even know them, but I think that a person of my profession has better things to do than actually come to this forum and this site. I just wanted to voice my dissappointment in this site, and its new layout and basically the entire change.
Thanks to the admins and the regulars for their dedicated work. Best of wishes with all of you.

I have been getting disillusioned with the sheer volume of non-technical topics for some time.
I may continue to post in the HH section where at least factual discussion reigns although there has been some excellent posting there of late and my input may not be needed.
Thanks for all your contributions.

Hi Drude,
I completely understand your issues here and I'm bummed that you have to make this decision. It's really too bad that the group of real, professional, insightful people can't be allowed to contribute to a thread without always worrying about being distracted or even criticized by the whole group of the 'my theory' self absorbed hard-headed wannabees (ie: pentcho, dad1 ...).
I think that both the teacher types (you among them) and the young inquisitive minds are given conflicting info, almost asking for an argument instead of a real, constructive discussion.
It really bothers me when a young kid asks a very intelligent, well articulated question and is almost always thrown a curve ball from some wacko unsubstantiated 'theory'. These young kids could very easily believe a load of hockey pucks thrown out there like it's fact. By leaving, Drude, (not to give you a guilt trip!) there is one less good guy to call the posers out. I wish they would at least not add their opinions to almost every topic with their unique world changing epiphanies.
As far as the teenage issue goes, though, I personally appreciate the fresh, innocent thoughts they bring up humbly. These are the guys who are at risk most from the fringers.
As a whole, I think we all should all intelligently question accepted dogma to some degree, but too many here claim divine insight.
Please reconsider how your retirement may leave the voices of reason more shorthanded (sorry for the second guilt trip!).
Either way, thanks for all your contributions.
Take care,
Ron

Drude,
I think you might be missing the humour behind
bad things. The English language used by an English person is often somewhat more allusive than the more literal approach favoured by Americans. We see that Grumpy has already been found doing
bad things .. how could he fail? Adoucette the same. Somehow I suspect loopholes will appear in the system as time passes. IMHO allowing five spam or troll attacks on the site seems too lenient .. in other cases .. give it time. Grumpy sent to stand in the corner for a day or two .. I really don't want to miss what happens then

. This is entirely recreational for us .. give Admin a break.. a mistake here or there on either side .. what does it matter?

I thought Drude was the one who worked hardest to try and keep Pentcho Valev's rating non-negative.

Kind? As in, different form of human species?

I don't know, I think to a degree, the idiots of this board can be used to sharpens ones mental capacity by shooting holes in their arguments. Although, I must admit, it would be better i someone just asked an honest question. The pentcho valev's and dad1's will always be a transient experience here. I'm not quite sure I understand why we have the rating system for users. It seems like this could easily be used to 'out' someone. Anway, I haven't found a better forum for my level of knowledge, which is still budding.
