There is an important difference between calling someone idiotic, and calling them an idiot. Any parent should know this.
To describe BEHAVIOR is preferable, as it implies that the behavior is unacceptable and behavior can be changed.
To describe the PERSON as an IDIOT implies that they themselves are defective, and is far more insulting and harmful, especially to a child. And this should be avoided at all times.

This is the whole 'I didn't call you stupid, I said you were acting stupid' song and dance. It really is absurd. I get pissed off everytime I hear this happen. There is no difference in reality. The intent behind the words is what matters and I think its pretty clear in both cases. Everyone does idiotic things from time to time and in those instances they are idiots. Don't hide behind ambiguity or any manifestation of its brethren.

Why not provide some balance and discuss posters you do like and some reasons why? I just wanted to see some positive comments as I think the majority of the posters here are not of the irritating ilk. btw I wanted to post this as a guest since I'm on a work contractor's computer, and I was denied that attempt. Anyone know why? I see guests post all the time.
