Hello and congratsulations for your forum.
A friend of mine uses superconductor wires for his professional sound devices. He told me that the only thing he knows is that they are Ag-Au. I have searched the web for hours and I didn't find anything about Ag-Au, onlu about oxides. Do you know anything about it?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say your friend doesn't use superconducting wires for his sound equipment.
What exactly are these pieces of equipment?

Did your friend explain why he needed those supra conducting wires?
He must have a really hot or should i say cool? Sound system, ah well, as far as i know there are no commercially sold supra conducting systems. There are a continuing search for supra conductive materials functioning at room temperatures but as far as i know none workable still.

Your friend has probably told you the wrong thing. Or not telling you the truth. Really good room temperature conductors like silver and gold haven't been found to be superconducting at any temperature.

I did a little more search and I found that Ag and Au are used as substrates with an annealing process. The information I found is very vague. Does this ring any bell?

Hello all
Silver is the best conductor of electricity at room temperature available but it corrodes easily. Gold is not as good of conductor as silver but it does not corrode. Gold plated silver contacts/wire would provide the best conduction without corrosion but the cable would be expensive.

Although the best it would not be super conductive. There doesn't exist a super conductor that operates at room temperature. I believe the highest they have gotten is liquid nitrogen temperatures.

I believe gold and/or silver can be used to make other metals superconductive... or maybe they were used with other metals to make superconductive thin films or some such.
Even so, the known superconductors still require at least N(L) to cool them to superconducting temps. There is also issues with using some SCs in bulk like wires, as they are sensitive to current direction, current magnitudes, magnetic fields, and such.
As said above, they do use gold and silver in high end sound and electronics equipment.
Tho, I remember reading something recently that I think was bashing the cost of such gold and silver high end equipment, claiming they don't noticeably effect quality. Maybe it was more along the lines of modern AV in which the quality of the source material and equipment is the bottleneck.
Anyhoo, hopefully your friend isn't being scammed.
