The Elegant Universe
Has anyone heard of this ?
Wen at MIT has discovered this string-net theory, where he found that there is a new state of matter, where the particles are joined together like a string instead of all over the place, like in a normal liquid.
What does everyone think?

We all, unanimously, think that he got a partial truth waiting for a context to fall into. Are we sure yet that it would be a "new state" of matter?

Elegant---can you provide a link?
The Elegant Universe
Sure, here is the link
http://news.softpedia.com/news/The-String-...ion-49517.shtml,
plus, we are not yet sure if this is a new "state of matter", but this is definately going to change our perception of what "matter" really is, in particle physics.

That would answer the question that i tried to post about five times and never got an answer to---------lotta talkin----no answering dry.gif

"The galaxies seem to be organized on vast sheets"

I'm quoting some scientist---i forgot who---

That was my question--remember everybody?

but I'm confused--

First it was particle soup

and now it's conglomerating and expanding

Have you guys seen the universe in a box?

Pretty cool--it shows step by step the formation of the universe--its a big cloud that forms into what looks like a cob web

I'm wondering....does anyone have any theories on what's going on there?

Any one wanna guess what the finished product looks like?

I guess that it looks like a tree when its done
a plasma tree---

but then, all the feul runs out and it turns to ash sad.gif

Unless the tree connects two points and closes a circuit? (thats why I always ask you guys about those gamma ray bursts.(another question unanswered)

The universe is obviouly organizing right?

Or was the soup organized?

Maybe it's transforming into a different oranized structure?

Do you guys think this looks like a process that runs off of a program?

Or could it be more like a program being written?

Any guesses on the position or positions of this hypothetical program?

thanks

Elegant Universe--may I call you EU?

Thanks for that link--I saved it on my fav's so I can read it later when I can focus--it's fascinating--

Everybody should check it out

The Elegant Universe
No problem on the link, just ask if you need any more, I have lots, I even have the podcast if you need.
Oh, and sure, you can call me EU
