Perhaps, but i guess you would get, at the very least, four PS3 for the same price. Then you connect those into a (f ex Beowulf) cluster with Linux and Whoopie :) You got yourself a little 'Super computer' . Its nothing to take with you off course but if you make it into a terminal server, you don't need a very power full laptop, Its all taken care of at home :)
Check out the specs.. (and they lowered the price too)

17" monitor, 3 hard drives...does it come with custom wagon to haul it around? Laptops are supposed to rest on your lap without snapping a femur.

Everything in life is based on science, business, and advertising. What is the issue? Bring on the technology. Bigger, faster, cheaper. That is not what we want, that is what we need! biggrin.gif

At least, the paper put "Source: HP" at the bottom. I prefer this to a paper signed by a journalist. But it still has little to do here among papers.

We need it faster? O yes, we would. Unfortunately, newer processors aren't much faster than older ones.

If you forget Intel's and Amd's announcements and look at real benchmarks, even in multitasking programmes, the most recent Core 2 are just 3-5 times as fast as the best Pentium III were, and this was over two generations ago. But the best PIII is over 10 times faster than a P1 (please don't argue, I own them).

So progress has almost stalled, because clock speeds don't improve any more with shrinking now. If you have another impression, it just proves marketing works.

I believe you can sue under the banner of interstate commerce if your spam is deemed unacceptable to you. huh.gif
