Isnt space debris usually sterilized before being brought back to earth? If people thought birdflu was bad just think of an alien disease if it struck earth. I am especially concerned over the recent comet particles being brought back to earth seemingly not sterilized or people stealing space material. Whereas usually eveything brought back from the moon was sterilized.

Whoa, interesting.
Somehow, I think it would be well worth the risk of infection by a spaceborn virus, if it meant we even got a chance to study the specimen.
As for moon rocks being stolen. That is just bloody pathetic. I mean, steal them? How do you get money for them, ransom? yeah... But the fact that is was possible...
Anyhow, I want to see spaceborn virii!

A space-borne virus would not need to be brought back.
QUOTE
Most meteors disintegrate when entering the Earth's atmosphere, making impact events (Earth impacts) on the surface uncommon. About 500 baseball-sized rocks reach the surface each year.

about the subject . Viruses from space , I heard that postulated. It could explain why out brakes can occur at separate location simultaneously . That was the thought anyway . Don't know if they actually do. I suspect they do .
