I want to make a few quick notes on space colonization.
One, I feel it is way too early to say anything about this subject.
This statement is because it seems all valuable data on anything that is sighted out of the ordinary, has that reporter made fun of and harassed.
The data by others reportings is confiscated, denied and hidden by those it seems aligned with government?

So in a military way of thinking, these might be valuable reports of certain levels of intelligence data, that is simply tossed into the trash.

The military which at times is appointed by the people then the government, has had a bad history in disregarding critical, crucial intelligence, that might affect the welfare of others.

For instance if your talking government, the expedition of the Seventh Calvary and their actions towards American natives, was one of misappropriation of action and missed intelligence.

From one report, the high ups told General Custer to go after the American Indians, when maybe the situation could have been let to socially cool down.

Two, the Indian guides the day of the massacre of the Seventh Calvary under Custer and Reno Bentene
who split forces, ignored the repeated please of the native Calvary Indian guides, telling them that they thought what the Seventh was doing that day, was a very bad move.

Time will soon come for first near to Earth and then a little further out colonization of planets, or at least some settlements placed on certain planets.

At this juncture of time, say if you were a cadet, male or female at any one of the prominate military academies. In your studies if your eventually going to be an astronaut or mission specialist, intelligence in some measure of what is known by so many said and seen vested personal or group reports, would be a key intelligence issue.

This information could possibly read, as who what and where any potential said supposed alien source could come from. If this is the case then, how would any one settlement handle this possible meeting.

At this point, it seems to be going into the trash bins.

This is my view and probably the reality of the situation.

There might be that one time, when a massacre occurs, that some officer or supervisor at some key level position in dealing with any supposed near or far off space settlement, might have to compose a letter to loved ones.

This might be at the loss of their loved ones.

This process is never easy, for the most part puts one’s heart in their throat. You also regret in some way, of every having to write such a letter.

This is all I have to say. Thank you

Did you know that when making Nachos you have a choice between a variety of corn tortilla chips to use? There's "Yellow Corn" and "White Corn" and even "Blue Corn". Similarly one can choose a variety of melted cheeses as the primary topping ... a range that includes from spicy Pepper Jack to good ol' pasteurized processed CHEEZ WHIZ (which by the way is the ONLY cheese one should use when preparing "Philly Cheesesteaks").

Don't forget the myriad of optional other toppings. It's truly unlimited just depending on your tastes.

For you I'd suggest ...

Blue Tortilla chips (they reflect less sunlight and we all know how sensitive you vampires are to that) ...
Cheez Whiz (it's bland enough to offset your obvious spiciness")
Black Olives (they have a big hole right in the middle ... JUST LIKE YOU)
Lettuce (crunchy and devoid of nutrition ... JUST LIKE YOU)

You should stay away from the Salsa though ...

I do not think there is a big conspiracy about the hidden existence of extra-solar inhabitable planets:
  • The United States Government is not the only one with telescopes and satellites.
  • It's simply very hard to find an inhabitable planet:
    • They are too small to cause a noticeable wobble of their parent star when they orbit it.
    • They don't produce light.
    • The habitable zone is very close to the parent star, relatively speaking, and any light that the planet might reflect would be completely overpowered by the glare of star itself.
  • Considering that the discovery of an inhabitable planet would earn any astronomer a legendary place in the history books, a secret of this magnitude would not remain a secret for long.

We could definetly set up a colonies on MARS, there is heaps of benefeits of mining it.

All that could be transported back to earth for our other purposes.
Yes we definetly should go to mars for a start.

Mining any body larger than a "dwarf planet" is too costly and inefficient.

You simply do not colonize other planets for "mining" as a primary purpose, because the cost of lifting those materials out of that planet's gravity is too high, at least with any technology that exists right now.

If you want to mine space for Earth's sake in the near future, you would mine asteriods, comets, moons, and dwarf planets.

This is why it ends up being cheaper to build orbital platforms and Dyson Swarms first, as they would eventually be required for colonizing and mining a planet anyway. These are required because you need space faring refineries so that you transport only the pure metals and minerals back to earth, and leave the useless stuff (at least until a use for it arises.)

====
The primary reason to colonize another planet MUST simply be to seed human life on other worlds and eventually other star systems.

There are information, astronomy, and technological benefits to colonizing a planet, even if "physical" resources are never gained by the parent civilization.
