I was just reading about the new PS3 cell technology and some of it's other specs.

they say it can do 2 teraflops. and it will have an always on always connected setup with their network.

so, what could this mean for distributed calculations?

I think there's like 15 million ps2s out there.

if we get a similar number of 2 teraflop ps3s out there, donating their spare cycles to a common cause, what kind of muscle would that make?

I wonder if Sony has thought of this?

I think it's 15 million XBoxes sold and closer to 60 million PS2's

I was thinkin about this earlier...

How about a less developed (financially) country ajoining 100's or even 1000's of them and using them as a make-shift super computer????

I've seen clustered Xboxes...
