A good article with little need for additional commentary, but I did notice one big area of usage missing. How about the improvement in clarity of large-screen TV"s? OOOOO, yeah. I see this new technology coming in mighty handy when discussing big screen TV"s picture clarity, along with a BIG DROP IN PRICE for these sets as the eventual result. Have you checked out the prices on plasma or LCD giant screens lately? Enough said.

Large screen TV's technology, will go for OLED, rather than LCD, I believe

Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices are based on electrons and holes which form a photon. A dye is added to create the exciton state, and finally light hits the exciton and gives off fluorescence. This is the process ladies and gentlemen. Since we are discussing organics, then the price of such a system would be less than an inorganic material being used. The key is backlight is necessary for the process to evolve to a glowing pcture state within a TV, for example. A sharp technology ap2 with a better chance of commercial success due to the longevity of viewing vs. the LCD technology currently being touted. smile.gif
