They got it backwards. We are not a body that has periodic spiritual experiences. We are are a spirit having a physical experience.

Pre-existences/passed-lives don't make sense.
Pre-existences/passed-lives made far more sense if explained in this way:
The body sometimes merges with residues of passed existences left in the earth atmosphere, which are memories imprinted atomically on matter -- in the form of vibration. [atmo-consciousness?]

But life-after-death has enough evidence NOW [I've read about it].
The problem is that life-after-death falls into the realm of religion, thus scientists would not be eager to declair its factuality.

One thing is for sure, a human spirit is more mobile & alert, but far less strong in the physical realm, once it's left/lost its body.
