Well.

Well met!

I hope our American members will do better than five votes come next November.

I hope more of us will be having as much fun as Tim Russert this year, too! laugh.gif

I don't know a damn one of them, so I can't vote for anyone of em...I'll let the people who get this thing participate in it. rolleyes.gif

President of the U.S. (poll)

Where's the "don't plan to vote" option?

There's many Americans who "don't plan to vote".

If you'd have also added the "don't plan to vote" your (physorg) President of the U.S. poll would have been the highest selected option.
Empress Palpatine
O.K. I bit. Florida (where I am) has a primary this Tuesday. I am a registered Democrat (even though I go more left than that). My lips are sealed until more votes come in. ph34r.gif

I think that everyone who votes in this informal poll should state whether they are a U.S. voter or not. That way, when votes collect, we can see how differently those of other nations view the U.S. election. For instance, if it were up to those in England, would a different candidate be favored?

Those who do not plan to vote should say. (Yes, I agree that option should be there because there are a lot of people who will sit this one out, all for different reasons.)

I'm voting for Hillary Clinton. Let's see if a smart woman can do a better job.
Sapo
Obama.

I voted in this poll. I chose Hillery because I am familiar with the Clintons and when they were in the White House before at least they slowed the collapse of America down. Unfortunately none of the candidates offer a real turn around. The Clintons will be the kindest for the next up coming climate oriented disasters. I live in Florida and Vote for real this Tuesday.

The people who wish to sit the election out should have been counted as well. I would love to hear what those from England, France, Australia Eastern Europe and so on would say if they were voting. Europe is luckier than us because they are aloud more than a two party system. They get to be truly represented. We still have taxation with out representation since the Saudi Royal family has more say in our elections than we do. As asked Who will the politicians listen to more the 4 billion dollars given by the Saudi Royal family or the noisy American constituent with only one vote a piece?

My computer has been in the repair shop for this month until now. That is why I was so scarce.

Typical american arrogance - why do you think the rest of us ( non-americans - ya we really exist !!) give a damn who wins. Are they not all controlled by your military/industrial complex anyway?

I'm living in Scotland, you arrogant m0r0n. But I'm still interested in who wins. The US might end up having it's first female president.

I am Irish - we´ve already had two female presidents. And what have you got - a bloody foreign queen? Who´s the m0r0n? And the point I was making was that I cannot imagine a member from any other country other than the U.S. imposing their rather pathetic domestic politics onto an inappropriate international forum.
And, if you want to add feedback, can you think of nothing less idiotically juvenile than "Hi Retard"?

I don't care if you're from Zimbabwe. It's your own arrogance which disgusts me.

Gehn,
Maybe you just need to give yourself a little space to grow up - for example , do not refer to people as retards or morons - doesn´t bother me but there are some people whose personal circumstances would make this both offensive and hurtful.

I think you need to do the same, sir. I was going to post on this thread until you said this:

I, AS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, *DO* care what the rest of the world thinks about our upcoming elections. If the rest of the world sees the USA as a group of vain, ignorant warmongers with a louse of a president, I care what (in the rest of the worlds eyes) would change our "outward appearance".

Derek1148
The USA should not be concerned how others view us. That is irrelevant. We will never be loved. Or appreciated. What is important is that we be righteous.

Machiavelli: "It is best to be both feared and loved; however, if one cannot be both it is better to be feared than loved."

Amen to that! The last six years have been so damaging, though, that it may take more than eight more to begin to fix it. sad.gif

Today (tuesday) I did vote for Obama. That was my A.B.C. vote.
(Anyone, But, Clinton) sad.gif

Cool! I hope he's the nominee, but I'm a yellow dog. Whoever the Democratic nominee is gets my vote. I do like John McCain, though. He is honorable in a crowd of scary people. sad.gif

When you say, “the rest of the world”: specifically whom are you referring to? North Korea? Iran? Somalia? Uganda? Zimbabwe?
Sapo
If I can presume to answer before THEY does, to me 'the rest of the world' is just that. Too bad some only have state-run media. sad.gif
Now, don't tell me we do, too! laugh.gif

No, we don't!
We have CNN

I for one can't wait 'till we plant a Bush back in Texas! I just voted in the Florida primary today....yes, I voted for Hillary.

I used to be more political in the past...you know, the protest marches, the whole bit. I have drifted off because I feel that big interests truly pull the strings and that elections are more or less cosmetic. I still go to the polls but still have the feeling that it is all somehow manipulated.
paul h
Well lets see,,, we get a few years of another Clinton and then we can all vote for Jeb Bush. After that their kids should be old enough to keep the Bush/Clinton legacys going on for generations. tongue.gif
Sapo
I wish everyone would remember that duhbya isn't from Texas... He was born in Connecticut. This state has enough to overcome without that too. sad.gif

edit: Paul, for God's sakes!

It is too bad that some people that are not Americans took the idea of wanting to know what other nations think as American arrogance. I was curious on other nations and how they think so one can learn how others perceive things. I would also want to know who is running in England, France, Eastern Europe and even China. I would like to know what choices others have. I think one learns more about far away lands by comparing our countries. I am sorry if this was perceived as arrogance.

I too am an ex-activist like Empress Palpatine. I now just do my part of voting so I can say I tried and have the right to complain when the other candidate wins and blows it. biggrin.gif . I believe the powers that be really control things anyway. I think other countries can in fact have more freedoms than America. Just because Americans shout the loudest about freedom does not mean that it true in fact. That still needs to be tested.

He won't fix anything either (I don't think he knows how in any case). We're past the point of things being repairable. It's going to break first before people have to learn how to fix it.

Pray for John Edwards, he didn't mean to cheat on his cancer stricken wife. It was Satan who led him down that vile path. He can be rehabilitated, there's still time, he must win!

And what? For McCain to basically continue the way of Bush? It's better to jump back into the frying pan i say, than remain in the fire where Bush left your country.

Obama is clearly the decisive choice for the presidency:
I'm actually surprised that the race is still this close!. I realize that there are many contumacious individuals who still do not get it. I am not saying all, but most appear to be conservative republicans who in a disconcerted effort to push the envelope with the historical rhetoric that is the Mccain/Palin ticket; actually postulate the credibility of their own propaganda!. Every target from nuclear proliferation and bipartisan law to even governmental regulation on lobbyists. Its incontestably clear that mccain is virtually fallacious when concerning the management of the United States. And its not just a large portion of America that agrees, if you relate international polls to which how the world views this presidential election, Obama is heavily favored as a figure who can at least turn the tides and make progress which is what we need. 4 years more is a regress! Besides that we have to take in account that Mccain is 72 yrs old. The average life expectancy for males is 75+, is been well documented that mccains health is deteriorating, if elected may not make the term. We are left with Palin? Palin? what the hell is that anyways lol Without question we would be left with some very onerous decisions... Look I could go on and would love to have 30 mins to discuss the politics of this presidency, and the incongruity that follows it, but I will say that Obama of the two is the far more clear, fresh, and appropriate choice.
