Well I hadn't read the whole thing but I still read it slightly different.
We get lots of earthquakes in NZ and it isn't because we are wicked (yeah right!).

NZ has earth quakes because it's geologically active and there mean to there sheep.lol
I think the reason geologists can't predict earth quakes yet is that at this point there working blind
It's not that complicated once you know where the most pressure is building up.
I saw an article recently where they were drilling and placing probes deep in fault zones of the cost of Japan. Unless that is done around the world it would be impossible to acuratly predict earth quakes.
