Last I heard he was promoting a crank saying that there was essentially an unlimited supply somewhere in there created from geological processes in the formation of the planet.
Its not the fact that we're running out that I'm concerned with. Its his taking money to talk down solar investment that is anti-American. If you're concerned with the future of your country you see this coming and say hey, start buying solar. Its a good investment. Its almost as if he hates this country the way he rails against this.
When oil gets too costly because its running down in a couple of decades it will only be economically feasible for the masses to use electric cars at which point the demand for power from the grid will sky rocket the price of power from the socket. Homes with a large number of solar panels will be fine, but those without will be hurting because that will then start to raise the price of all ready expensive solar panels.
Your analysis is right on. Limbaugh is the boogie mans pied piper. Americans are looking under the bed instead of reading the scientific literature. I worked in the oil industry for 40 years and you can't trust those guys. They were forced to clean up safety and environmental compliance. Now safety and environmental compliance are core values. They'll lie, cheat, obfuscate, whatever.... to maintain the 'bottom line' status quo. You can force them to change but you got to kick them in the pocketbook.

“The Rand Corporation, a nonprofit research organization, estimates that 30 to 60 percent of the oil shale in the Green River Formation can be recovered,” Mittal told the subcommittee. “At the midpoint of this estimate, almost half of the 3 trillion barrels of oil would be recoverable. This is an amount about equal to the entire world's proven oil reserves.”

If you really believe it then why do you think that land hasn't suddenly become the price of gold?
