Here is an idea for a science fiction (?) book or movie called “Fermi’s Question.” An enterprising scientist discovers that not only a large scale cloaking mechanism is possible but also its reverse, the de-cloaking for a narrow range of wavelengths, then he proceeds to build a portable viewer, which can de-cloak cloaked objects in a wide spectrum of wavelengths. And to his horror he discovers that Earth already has the answer to Enrico Fermi’s question “Where is everybody?” The extraterrestrials are building physical infrastructures on Earth and when completed, they are designed to uncloak and possibly take over the Earth. Can he expose the hidden agenda (really) and stop it before it’s too late?

It sounds like an episode out of Twilight Zone but consider this. In the future time when we had developed a cloaking mechanism for much of the visible and infrared wavelengths and the capacity to explore the interstellar space, wouldn’t we rather use such device, even on a peaceful intention, to discover extraterrestrials before they discover us as we physically approach their planetary systems?

For the extraterrestrials in a far more advanced stage of civilization, the civilizations that are still home planet bound, like our own, are probably fairly common sights. And so long as we have no capacity to reach their planetary systems, there is not much of threat to speak of from us. Nevertheless the rapid technological advancement the mankind has been making, often fuelled by its belligerent needs, should be of concern to them. Thus, the need to covertly monitor us is an important answer to why “they are not here.”

The possibility of being able to create cloaking mechanism, obviously now no longer a science fiction fantasy, and how it might be used in its more advanced technological stage, probably as discreet surveillance system, should give us more fuel to the time-honored speculation that the extraterrestrials are already here in some capacity and are monitoring us. After all had we the full cloaking surveillance capacity, we would certainly not hesitate to use it against our own kind so the possibility of employing such mechanism is highly possible and even desirable when we develop the capacity for interstellar travel. And indeed if there are advanced extraterrestrial civilizations out there, I am reasonably certain that they would do likewise.

It sounds like we can easily cloak people today using very specific wavelength exceptions. I could be invisible to the color blind or a subset of the color blind population, anyway. Excellent, my plans are just about ready! tongue.gif

How about cloaking an aircraft to avoid a narrow range of microwave frequencies?
J. Wensveen
There are 2 ways of "cloaking"

1: The object passes through all waveforms as if it was not there. The Invisible kind of way. This would mean that energy entering one side of the field gets ejected under the same vector on the other side of the objects field. A sphere would be the most convenient form.

2: The object absorbs all waveforms, thereby making it an ideal Black body. All energy is absorbed, none is reflected. This is the form of stealth that is approached by stealth aircrafts. Those machines have a hull design that absorbes most wavelengths and those it can not absorb, they reflect away from their source.

A high developed society that wants to conquer earth will not use such approach. They simply take a wide sample of the population they want to remove and engineer a genetic virus that will kill of the targeted population species. The .1% survivors they will manually kill off.

The reason we do not intercept radio messages from other planets, basically because we are not the target of an aimed message. An normal radio messages will disperce around their source in a spherical shape, thereby quadratically losing its intensity over its distance. Thus within a few lightyears, they are droned out by the galactic background noise.

Very interesting read. But for now this technology seems limited to the microwave spectrum but it might one day make an effective radar cloak. But a cloak for the visible light spectrum is a different beast. Its basic commen sense really something comes to one side of an object then you generate that something ( be it light, electromagnetic waves, etc )on the other side so it appears like the "hidden" object was never there. Their is a japenese scientist with a coat like this he made. I think you have to ask yourself what is light really? If light is just photons that travel and bounce off objects in space then my theory is to generate some kind of field (which would be spherical no doubt) that would change the photons energy level or frequency level while in the field then return to a normal "viewable" state when they leave the field. Thus rendering anything inside the field invisible to another outside. But I agree with that one guy that anything inside a cloaking field would make it impossible to see out of.........That one guys says mirrors I say pitch blackness.........why would it reflect? ?? lol You have to understand if the photons never make it to your eyes in the cloaking field then you can't see can you????haha Unless say in the future a computer could somehow analyse the incoming photons and use the data to reconstruct a video feed of some kind...of course I am guessing light from the monitor would leave your cloaking field........maybe I am wrong and you couldn't even see the monitor right in front of you cause its inside of the cloaking field. Maybe I watch too much trek haha But prolly what would be easier is to use a thermal viewer to see outside the cloak........So maybe their is method to the predator's madness...lol course infared was his default vision ..the mask just enhanced it... maybe seeing in IR is a plus when you hunt while cloaked lol

Hmm how about a set of mirrors around the object and keep one 'end' pointed at the person to be invisible from. Kind of invisible from one angle
biggrin.gif

Wonder what would happen if the mirror set was span fast enough around the central body? Invisible hole all the way round?

tongue.gif actually it might be just as easy for an alien or earth gov. to interfer with a persons mind so they do not see you, as opposed to cloaking something

Actually there is only one way to be truly invisible which you alluded to in this part of your post. It is the way currently used by the US and Israel (and any large government or military).

Existence is defined by affect. If something exists, then it must have affect. If it truly has no affect at all, then it doesn't exist, nor would you care if it did.

All detection is accomplished solely through affect. The only means for detecting anything is to allow it to affect you and measure or categorize its affect. You determine that nothing exists in a place simply by observing that there is nothing there having any affect on anything (to your knowledge).

The fact that nothing can exist without having affect means that it cannot be truly 100% cloaked. But then again, that doesn't mean that you can't get close enough for practical use.

All sensing for anything requires the attribute of contrast from what is to be detected. If something is to be invisible in all forms, then it must have absolutely no distinction between it and its identifiable surroundings. In other words, hide in the noise.[B]

But that isn't quiet as simple as it sounds. For something to be what it is, it must be different than what it is not. Yet to be invisible, it must affect its surrounding in exactly the same way as what it is not. But all things are defined by how they affect what they are not. This poses a paradox for true invisibility.

If a spy is to be invisible, he must behave exactly as though he were not a spy. By this means, he hides in the noise of the population. But of course, what makes him a spy is his gathering of information which is to be transmitted to his home later. This means that all he must do any different than anyone else is store information of a particular type. This is quite easily done assuming that many people have access to the information.

The trick comes in when he attempts to transmit the information elsewhere. This is a behavior slightly different than the general population. The slight difference can be from either the destination of the information or from the type of information being passed.

The actual transmission of the information can be hidden within the noise of transmissions, but it will still have a distinction which the receiver must be able to make so as to receive the transmission. To hide this requires something a little special and not so easy.

The spy must be transmitting in a way that is indiscernible by the observer. If the observer knows much about the spy, then the observer can tune into the transmission in the same way as the intended receiver would. This requires a secrecy concerning the nature of the spy and his transmission methods. But technology is something that many can develop on their own and thus observe transmission methods that they had never been informed of by anyone else. In other words, they learn.

The key to ensuring that the transmission method is never discovered comes in 2 forms. The first is simply one of ignorance. Make sure that the observer is kept in an ignorant, un-advanced state (Pharaohism). The second is to switch the nature of the spy around so quickly that the transmission methods cannot be discerned without knowing more about the spy's technique. This also involves ignorance, but only the ignorance of a specific code method rather than a general ignorance of all technologies.

But even by this means, the noise of the spy must still be slightly different than the surrounding noise and places a much greater burden on the receiver. The receiver must know what it is looking for and tune out all else in order to create a contrast.

The final touch to this method is to even hide that last little bit of information; the information as to what to look for.

To hide the information as to what to look for, the object to be invisible must appear irrelevant or innocent. This is a means used for thousands of years by nations. If the one being spied upon doesn't know what information would be useful to their enemy, then they can't detect what to watch for concerning information being transmitted. Each nation attempts to basically hide is plans or its method for aggression or defense.

But the problem is that once again, they get into keeping everyone else in a state of ignorance else they might be able to deduce the best plans for their adversary and thus detect the spies. Basically they ask themselves, "What would I do if I were them?" The answer to this is simply to not let "them" know enough about you to predict you in any regards. Again, keep the adversary in a state of ignorance.

Ignorance is the mind not being able to discern what is important and what isn't. It is the lack of contrast concerning relevance.

The bad thing about maintaining ignorance is simply that it forces the condition of misery. Joy is the ability to discern progress and if a person cannot do that, they feel nothing but futility, frustration, anger, and depression. How wise is it to keep an adversary angered?

Thus simply be trying to be invisible, you create a greater adversary passionate to know of all things - exactly what you didn't want. Eventually they find means to knowledge and discover that the innocent weren't as innocent as they had thought and never forgive them - you.

If you can't win visibly, then you actually can't win at all in the long run. Invisibility is the temptation of deception that leads to yourown destruction. Invisibility is the lie that had to be told so as to keep your secret and force others into ignorance and misery.

Life depends on awareness. Invisibility is an inherently critical adversary to life and it isn't typically wise to be an adversary to life. wink.gif

Summapaxist, your treatise in this thread is very relevant to the subject and
in my assessment, 100 % agreeable to me, at least within the parameters of
subjective knowledge by all who are aware of the idea of "cloakability".

In keeping with that, my opinion is one of plausible belief in the ultimate reality of
the technology of cloaking, as envisioned by Star Trek sci-fi visionaries, given
their long proven ability to "prophesy" various forms and elements of
"FutureTech". I hereby convey part of my belief system scaffolding, stemming
from my complete awareness of visitation to our world by various and sundry "EBE's".... not a statement of possibilities, but one of fact. I have "seen"
their "vehicles" numerous times in the last 50 years. It is not here necessary to
try to argue the point to any who may doubt my personal experiences, because
I perfectly understand that my knowledge and awareness is simply mine and,
not necessarily theirs. This is true of any personal experience, by anyone.
I will however, state this axiom; "One can only see "UFOs" by Watching For Them!" Keeping one's nose to the "grindestone" for too long, will prevent this experience
too often.

Here is one experience, not by me but by a good friend. of apparent cloaking:
In August of 2004, she asked me my opinion of her experience during that hot
Summer day in Texas. While waiting for customers for roadside clothing sales in a
closed gas station parking lot and while sitting under a sun-shielding overhang on
this cloudless day with her daughter-in-law helper, what they both then observed
was the very distinct shadow of a round, circular edge of an apparently very
large "saucer" shape, moving slowly across their area. They quickly ran out from
under the overhang to look up and see what was making the shadow, which
continued to move on a straight path paralleling the nearby feeder road. They
were both in the shadow of this "object", but upon looking up they both saw...
nothing but blue cloudless sky, though they were still in shadow! My friend
estimated the size of this shadow circle at at least 150 feet. It continued to move
until it went past them when they were again in sunlight. Needless to say, this
was a "creepy" experience for them both, as the shadow kept moving away from
them until it was out of sight. Unfortunately they were the only two to see this
phenomenon. My answer to her was of course that obviously, they had been
overshadowed by a "cloaked" Flying Saucer! She said that that was their belief
as well.

Now, we must ask ourselves just what kind of technology can exhibit this
technique of "hiding" an apparently SOLID object! Obviously, the sunlight was
being blocked from passing THROUGH the object, while the image of the sky
above it was instead transmitted to the ground surface and the eyes of my
friend and her colleague! I find this to be a wonderful exhibition of how these
EBE's demonstrated just how they can observe us all with impunity!
This happening is related to the reader as another aspect of this strange(to us)
technology. Have fun with your theories, my fellow inquirers!

Robby41,

An interesting story. What you have described is a limited cloaking requirement and easily within US military technology.

On a clear, cloudless day, the sky coloring is somewhat uniform and thus relatively easy to replicate. But you mentioned that she was standing in the shadow. This means that the object would have been in her direct line with the Sun.

If an object is that close to such a bright light source, the relative light-noise ratio to the human eye would be high. My first question would be to ask if she actually looked at the Sun for the object. An object very high (perhaps stratospheric) only 150 feet wide would be very difficult to see even without intentional cloaking.

The technology you are suggesting is actually not one of cloaking, but one of holding an exact positioning so accurately such as to produce a slow moving shadow on the Earth's surface. Satelite position technology is well within that capability and with the number of stationary satelites as well as others, it would be no surprise to me to see such a shadow drift by. The shadow of such a high object would be larger than the actual object and would be the secondary refraction shadow rather than a direct or primary shadow.

But I can imagine that it would be pretty eerie. biggrin.gif

Hi all,
Your conversation reminds me of a Discovery channel show that was investigating a military program that was cloaking an armored personnel carrier. The basic concept was that the APC was covered in thousands of tiny LCD displays intertwined with mini cameras. From the perspective of a viewer (some hundred feet away or so), the cameras on the opposite side of the APC would display what was behind the APC onto the viewed side of the APC so that the viewer would see what was behind the APC on the front LC D's, in essence, making the vehicle invisible. Granted, getting closer to the vehicle would expose the ruse, but from a distance it was an amazing illusion. If this was shown on the Discovery channel, I can only imagine how far they've come in their secret programs.
Just thought that was pretty amazing.
Take care,
Ron

This is already being done on stealth bombers. They are designed not to reflect radar back to the source (or close enough to be detected).

...their analysis also revealed another surprise: a person trying to look out of the cloak would effectively be faced with a mirror in every direction..

This is not so surprising, as we have the models of such cloak mirror for long time. In fact, everybody with sufficiently powerful computer can model the behavior of such cloak easily.

user posted image user posted image user posted image

The more interesting is the connection to the black hole phenomena. The black hole event horizon can be considered as such cloak, which hides everything in it's interior. The AWT assumes, the event horizon of black hole should appear as a silver-like mirror from inside due the total reflection phenomena. This hypothesis can be even confirmed experimentally, if we found some repetitive patterns on the night sky, because the AWT assumes, whole observable Universe is formed by the interior of such black hole.
