Comparing Evolution to creationism only gives credit to creationism. Your forum will almost certainly be mostly populated by creationists looking for "evidence" to support their point of view.

Would you consider a "Did we land on the Moon or not?" forum to offer a fair evaluation of the facts?

yeh i guess that sounds like a good forum?

anyone fancy making a forum with me

i wanna make a good one tongue.gif

Then think of something unique. Find an audience.

So far you have not given evidence or even promises of why your hypothetical forum would be better for discussion than our actual forum with an actual history. Nor do you indicate even what traits compromise a "better" forum, leaving me convinced you are at best a poor communicator, seeing as you have not given a rational or irrational basis for exploring your site other than novelty.

The appeal of novelty is common to many people, but by definition such status is transitory and hardly the basis for ongoing contributions to your site. If all you have to offer is impermanent novelty then I question your thinking and lack of a meaningful business plan.

As moderator, I view your post as a breach of civility in that it blatantly attempts to poach from our membership.

As a user, I view your post with suspicion since it is devoid of useful information which can be rationally acted upon and for all I know could be part of an Internet come-on or organized crime botnet plan. The onus of "registering" with a new site is a price I am unwilling to pay with the current level of disclosure.

You can throw Flat Earth into the mix and see how it goes.
PS. I see you have a sub section dedicated to any topic. I miss such a section here in this forum. My clamour for a crank subsection got almost zero support. Prepare for weird posts. smile.gif

Ryan, you know this is not true, since you created a new topic with the title "Creation/evolution Forum Update!" and the subtitle "My apologies for the last post" trying to escape from opinions and questions.

Already other users at your site (a site with 2 moderators and only 4 registered users so far), have complained about your site's total disregard for opinions and facts not in line with the moderator's very peculiar mindset, even though there is no statement from you what you believe and what you consider evidence or even what types of posts are unacceptable. Here you answer no questions of substance. Your "discussion forum" is a sham and fraud, and blaming the "other moderator" is disingenuous if you are the site admin under the doctrine of respondeat superior.

I'll be honest. I'm afraid to spend any substantial time anymore writing out anything for this forum. This morning, I spent about 30 minutes composing a post in response to one of your posts. In my response, I very carefully explained some of your misconceptions and provided links. Overall, I wanted for us to get rolling on the scientific parts of our debate. I, myself, am a researcher in material science. We are a privately funded research group for some engineering firms. So, no, I'm not a liberal commie.

That said, when I clicked submit a message popped up saying the subject could not be found. In other words, I spent 30 minutes painstakingly explaining to you in easy to understand language on some of the sciences behind what we're talking about and poof my message was instantly erased.

You can understand my reluctance to write anything of substance again.

You link uncritically to convicted felon Kent Hovind's drdino.com site.
You espouse bogus crowd-sourced expert claims from answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006030109982 without doing the research yourself.
You seem ignorant of good research, good scholarship, and tools like http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/ and http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/ , http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/homs/ and http://ncse.com/creationism

You have my permission to copy this one post wherever you like, so long as you link clearly to the original here, keep the words in order and make clear what, if any, edits you make. http://www.physforum.com/index.php?showtop...ndpost&p=486403

When you see the moderators wheeling out utter nonsense like moon dust and the Roche limit 'disproving' evolution you know its not worth joining, you'll only be met with ignorant and stupidity.

Threads like this don't even have a point. Yes 4 million tons a second. The Sun is 4.5 billion years old. It has a total mass of 2E30 kilograms. If you work out the amount of mass it would have lost so far it's less than its current mass. The Sun hasn't even halved in mass. Hence the rate of energy usage doesn't disprove evolution. It just proves the moderators spout stuff they don't understand.
