The USA makes a lot of fuss over being the first on the moon; but, here we are again, lagging behind the rest of the world in technology. I have been long awaiting maglev as a viable commercial venture. Imagine the country linked, coast to coast with a fast, smooth, silent means of transportation, run on pollution free electricity. The basic infrastructure is available. We wouldn"t have to make new roadways for it as we could simply run the tracks down the middle of existing freeways, in the center divide. But, what are we doing with trillions of dollars we could be improving our infrastructure with? Pouring it into one stupid war after another. While we"re out chasing the ever lucrative oil, we could be providing our citizens with a means of transportation that would alleviate much of the pollution from automotive exhaust with an inexpensive means of transportation. It could put our railroads back on the map, without interferring with existing rail lines. It would be an ideal means of getting from city to city. But, I suppose we"ll not have it so long as the rich and greedy are in control of this country, supposedly of, by and for the people. Not, anyways, until a way is found to make giant profits on it...
