I take back everything I ever said about being a deist/pantheist/unitarian/whatever-other-rational-religious-conviction.
I'm an atheist.

Why? Well.... I damn well feel like being one.

That is all.

(God Damn, I'm bored.)

Is this a revelation to you or to us?

I wonder how many cranks got their hopes up on reading this thread's subtitle?
hehehe...

Do you remember, awhile back, you said in my feedback that something I said to Newguy was “absolutely fuсking brilliant”, but that you were a deist, and no one would ever convince you otherwise? Perhaps, you convinced yourself, eh?

Good deal! It’s liberating, huh?

It was newguy who convinced me. Since I care less about him than about any other human being alive (except Liu), he qualifies as nobody.

I'm not being facetious, either. I changed my mind specifically because I want to have less in common with people like him, and because it makes no real difference to my outlook on life. And I know some sexy female atheists, too. wink.gif

And no, it's not very liberating. Going from theist to deist (which could accurately be described as me deciding that god is irrelevant) was, though.

I dunno. I only posted it because I was bored.

I am actually a Christian, in that I try to follow the philosophy of Jesus. But like Thomas Jefferson, I do not buy the supernatural non-sense religionists have attached to him. I am an Atheist when it comes to such claims.

As I have tried to explain in the Atheist fundy thread, Atheism does not tell you anything about what a person accepts as being real, all it tells you is that the person does not accept a certain subset of concepts involving a supernatural entity as real. If you describe someone as an Atheist you have only described what it is they do not "believe", not what they do.

This is very true, and it is something I wish people like newguy and PhysFan were aware of.

So, nobody convinced you, you just don't like being in the same crowd as a theist?

Not entirely rational...
