Its late and I'm rather bored so i got thinking and my mind strayed.

i was just thinking what would happen if 2 black holes came together but with opposite rotations? would it be at all possible for the counteracting rotations to slow the rotation of the black holes and leave just a sitting singularity or would something a little bit more interesting happen, like a release of all the swallowed energy?

And if you were to take this to an extreme. assume that all that was left in the universe was 2 supermassive blackholes that had swallowed everything except one another, and they came together, could it be possible for them (if energy was to be released) that it could create some kind of "big bang" style situation?

as i said, its late and I'm just entertaining the idea.

any input would b awesome. I'm obviously no genius, but i am rather interested in all of this and would like to know more smile.gif

thanks for and help and for reading

at a guess the opposite rotation of 2 black holes would maybe cause them to repell each other not to attract

I sooo envy the people of California and their easy access to medical marijuana. I would though recommend a policy of limiting your posting here when you're stoned. It isn't that stoner thoughts aren't interesting per se ... just that the chances of a completely sober physicist responding harshly go up with each "stoner post" you make.

And just so you know ... next time you're toasted and it occurs to you that all the matter in the universe is really just energy slowed down to an incredibly slow vibration ... you weren't the first to think that. And neither was I ...

I'm not stoned, nor do i smoke weed either. hell I'm not even from america.
was just asking a question. i don't claim to be a physicist or anything, so i came to a forum where i thought i might get some information, not criticism...

Common Slang for Marijuana includes but is not limited to the following:
Doobie
Doober
Doob
Spliff
Joint
Ganja

With the more recent "high school" reference of "420" ...

Doobers421 as a moniker connotes marijuana ... plain and simple.

Your silly claims otherwise aren't necessary. My initial response was intended with gentle humor and a certain understanding. Ultimately, your stated goal to "get some information" was well and truly met with my guidance. You got some information.

As to your original question. The spin of the black holes would likely have no real effect on the eventual merging of the two. Gravity rules ... spin drools.
