It still amazes me that anyone can make money by annoying the piss out of its potential clients. I personally keep a list of companies I will not do business with due to obnoxious advertising techniques.
On the other hand, 750,000 a month is awfully strong incentive to run such a business.
As to the claim that this is covered by "free speech" clause in the Constitution... I say, let those who are in favor of letting spammers continue, be bombarded with advertising 24/7 until they get as tired of it as the rest of us are.
I envision implanting receivers that will pump advertising into these people"s ears all day and all night, with no way to shut them off. Also, thier personal email should be flooded with so much spam they can"t get at their serious mail even if they spend all day deleting spam; as I do on many a day. As stated in the "Mikado", let the punishment fit the crime.
Additionally; I think we should all be allowed to bill spammers on a per deum basis for the time we have to spend sorting through our email looking for something meaningful.
The other possibility is to make it mandatory for anyone selling mailling lists pay the people on the list half of what they charge for selling it. After all, if my name, spending habits and mailing adress is being used to make money, shouldn't I get a share? When did my name and adress become a marketable commodity? And why am I not benefitting from this? I say, if you want to make money off of me, then share the revenue with me. Then I won't feel so abused.
