Here is a question I would like ask regarding Christianity....
Lets imagine for a moment that Jesus roamed the earth and his life was portrayed as it was in the bible.
I'm not a Christian but from my limited understanding of Christianity, Jesus is seen as the saviour who died for us all and for our sins. I understand that God in the Christian sense, loves us all regardless.
When Jesus was crucified on the cross, he asked the lord (His father!) to forgive us for our sins and the fact that man was crucifying his (gods) only son, cause they know not what they do...etc etc.
So in theory, Jesus asked god to allow us to sin without Gods retribution. God agreed and went along with Jesus request.
If this is the case, then surely it could be argued that because Jesus asked God to allow punishable acts of sin to be forgiven. This would mean that man could now sin without being punished by god and allow for all kinds of unspeakable acts of evil that we see in society today.
If Jesus didn't ask god to forgive us, our world and society might be a lot less evil because there would be fear of retribution by god himself, which could be argued is a far more frightening prospect than the fear of retribution/justice that the law could dish out.
Remember that god sees everything, which would make man more likely to conform to gods will, as he is always watching and judging your every act or move, therefore we have no escape from his all seeing eyes.
Most acts of evil are done by man thinking or believing that they will never be caught doing it, sometimes they are wrong and our laws deal with them accordingly. I'm sure most people would not do any acts of evil knowing that they will get caught or receive punishment from the law, unless they are the law of course.
However, lots of evil goes off in the world today without any punishment for the people who perpetrate them, leaving damage to the victims of evil . Lots of these evils cause much undue suffering and damage to many thousands/millions of people throughout there lifetime on earth, which makes it hell on earth for the unfortunate. From everything evil like petty theft to something really wicked and nasty like genocide, people suffer at the hands of evil on both long & short terms pretty much everyday.
So the evils will continue followed by the misery and suffering.....Which brings me to another point.
In essence we can sin throughout our entire life and only if we are caught, might we received punishment from our society in this life. However, if we ask god to forgive us for all of our unpunished sins and evil, which may have cause much misery and suffer throughout this lifetime to others, we are forgiven and can enter Heaven, even though we have been evil and sinned in our time on earth and cause untold damage to the victims of such acts. Those that suffer from the hands of evil and sin are now not protected by god because no matter how evil someone is, god will not punish them. Not even in the afterlife!
Another reason why I suggest this is because in the Old Testament, God is seen as quite mean, ready to show us his wrath and angry, but by the time of the New testament, he is all loving and compassionate.
So does anyone else think Jesus as given man a free allowance to be evil and sin?
Cheers
Stundie
p.s. If you are a Christian and are offended by these thoughts, please forgive me.
