So my professor will probably be killed by the CIA for telling me this. But he said that before computers, he was involved in projects that were the reverse of the split brain studies. They would put people in a sensory deprivation tank for weeks. They would use microwave signals to read brain activity and induce it by a specific wave form that caused a small amount of neurotransmitter release. That signal was only significant for neurons near their threshold when it could be bio-amplified from the sigmoidal function of depolarization. So they would connect one or more brains together this way. What would happen is that over time the self organizing nature of neural networks would cause all participants to share one mind. They often believed they achieved increased intelligence but sometime it would lead to schizophrenia symptoms.

Has anyone else heard of these hive mind experiments?

The emergence of a hive mind has been more apparent as our ability for instant communication has progressed. As a result the world is becoming more culturally homogenized every day. Shared experience and shared solutions, less and less dependent on the local environments and intellectual limitations that tended to shape our psyches in the past. Life-logging, digitally recording your entire life experience, coupled with neural prosthetics will allow our collective digital experiences to become as real as our own. It seems that as technology marches forward individuality moves closer to extinction.

Im doing the exact opposite, sinking into a self delusional world i have created.
