Hi Guys,

I am working on new ways of increasing the solar cell efficiency. I am relatively new to this area, so pardon my ignorance to vital concepts, if any.

From what I have learnt so far, conventional Si based solar cells give us only about 12%. On the other hand we have Organic photovoltaic cells known as Dye sensitized solar cells, which use a dye instead of Si. The light causes these dye molecules to get excited and release electrons that are converted to electrical energy. So far an efficiency of such Dye sensitized solar cells has been reported to be around 7-8%.

Could someone tell me what is the maximum reached efficiency for any of the above mentioned solar cells lately? References and additional comments would be really helpful.

Thanks.
