a car is out of control and drives off a cliff. the police officers clocked the speed of the car when it hit the ground to be 49 m/s (meters per second). in order to complete the investigation, find out how far the car fell.

(i need the problem (as in a=vf.....) and help to find the answer) PLEASE HELP! IT'S DUE TOMORROW!! ohmy.gif

You are not giving enough information.
First of all tell us if it was accelerating ..at least tell how high the cliff was and the its velocity at the top of the cliff, which can help you calculate the amount of time it took to get to the ground.

Or if the problem was THAT easy, and gave you the time it took for the car to reach the ground, then give it to us...

although i see a few days have passed since you asked the question.

Big assumption becuase not quite enough info is that the speed the officer clocks is vertical speed, not horiziontal

A = 9.8 = (vf-vi)/t
t = (49-0)/9.8

d = 1/2*a*t^2

plug in numbers and get d

Apologies for being too late, I only just noticed this post
