Okay science fans, I am writing a super hero comic and I'd like to spark a little scientific discussion.
Our hero is gifted with the ability to absorb kinetic energy. Fire a bullet at him and it stops cold. It doesn't flatten. Doesn't deform. It just stops. It falls. He points a finger at you, cocks it like a gun and BLAM!
Our hero jumps off a building. He lands soundlessly on his feet. No damage to himself or to the ground. Then redirects all that energy beneath him. The pavement cracks and he shoots through the air.
Only so much energy can be stored. Excess energy is constantly being vented. His clothes and his hair billow, leaves and dust swirl around him. Overwhelm him with kinetic force and he loses control. The energy erupts from him like a bomb.
Can you think of any interesting things a character could do with powers like that? Any problems or conundrums? What happens if he absorbs energy while he walks? Does that mean he can't move, or that he moves soundlessly or even glides across the ground?
I really appreciate any ideas you come up with and I hope you have fun with this. Thanks!
