Help on Nanotechnology!!!!

Hello I am a student working on a speech, in class. I'm am here today asking if any of you guys could help me out and give me a simple description of nanotechnology. None of things you tell me will be used for anything but for my speech.

I am asking because my speech requires me to get a person who knows some about it to give their opinion on it and where I live no one has a clue. If you could help me out that would be great.

Thanks For Your Help

I suggest you search on "Richard Feynman", who is often acknowledged as the founder of nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology can be described as (1) control over materials at the nanometer scale. It can also be described as (2) building machines at the molecular level. There is a huge difference between those descriptions. The first is crude compared to the second.

Nanotech has become a buzz-word and a marketing tool lately. Products with nano-this nano-that, usually containing powders that can be mesured in nanometers. They are very crude examples of example (1) above.

here are a some worthwhile links on nanotech that might help:

Can it be used for lift upto moon?

There is lots of information available about nanotechnology applied to space flight, try the following urls:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3401/02-ask.html for a discussion of the space elevator.

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2002/16sep_rightstuff.htm for a discussion of how nanotechnology can produce lighter spaceships.

http://www.thespacesite.com/space_nanotech...s_in_space.html a general discussion of nanotechnology applications to space flight

Since you are new to nanotechnology you might also look at my new site: http://www.understandingnano.com/ for a general overview of nanotechnology applications

Try searching the dangers of nano which something no one wants to talk about.
They are too busy writing research grants to get $$$!!!

NASA is taking it seriously. They sponsore the space elevator games last year to help people start on the neccesary technology.

The next games are in 2010
