Thanks to Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong. Your accomplishment spurred a lifelong interest in all things space for me and countless others.

I was 8 years old.

I was seven. I remember watching it on this tiny Sony black and white TV. It was the good old days of Walter Cronkite.

I was -17. But hey, who's counting?

I was six months old. My first memory of anything having to do with the space program was 1975, when my whole family went into the backyard one night to watch the linked Apollo/Soyuz spacecraft pass overhead. Ive been hooked ever since.

I was 9! The first time I ever really felt old was during my freshman astronomy class. The prof asked how many of us remembered watching the landing live... My hand was one of three from about 40 in the class that went up! (I was 26 at the time). I took pre-college retirement!

Growing up I had always thought that I was born at the exact right moment in time... Being able to watch the moon landings as a child who knew what was possible through my life-time... and then we went into a long 40+ year dry spell! Who would have thunk it! I hope it ends soon sad.gif

I was fifteen. My grandmother was visiting. The family was in front of our black and white and I was spellbound. But I think none of us were more appreciative of the event than my grandmother. She was born in 1896. I remember her saying how modern she thought things were when they would get their daily block of ice for the icebox, because the other 50% of America relied on root cellars, or lived unrefrigerated lives.
Now she was sitting next to her grandson watching men walk on the moon, live as it happened.

I was 7, only two weeks short of 8years old when we went to the moon. It is one of my more pleasant memories because my dad was still alive. My brother, sister and I all watched with dad as the first step was taking place. Yes I was old enough to remember seeing it live on a black and white TV.

I agree with you. It is sad that we went through a 40 year dry spell sad.gif I hope that things really change.
