The application sounds like a spin-off from the lithography process – Instead of printing onto a surface, where there is an ink receptive and ink repellent metal plate, there is material (paint) to keep behind and unwanted debris to remove. This etching on a nano-scale may become quite flexible, even exotic in where and on what it is applied too, especially, where repairs may be needed or where removal of electrostatic dust particles is concerned. At least it won’t float away to easily.
