Interesting stuff! I especially like the mobile phone breathalyzer combo idea....no one should ever drive when impaired.
Another variation of a must have item would be the humble push-button pen.
A cheaper less high tech option would a sensory solar pen that transfers information to your car. You would be able to to plug/insert your pen into your car's ignition system after blowing in it successfully and start your car. You could click the button to use the added protection of a pass word. The solar pen would recharge in your car however when at a party the solar cell around the metal pen would recharge it. Body heat would recharge it as-well in your hand. The up-class metal pen would act as your car-key transponder. And just as your car-keys in your hand because it's metal could be used as self defense.
Your car's ignition system could be replaced by a facial recognition system.
When your car's recognition system recognizes that your the owner it would provide a place to plug your pen in and then you could blow into it directly. Licking sensors on your solar pen would test the presence of illicit drugs. If you miss-place your pen you could lick and blow your cars recognition system directly.

recognizes that your the owner it would provide a place to plug your pen in and then you could blow into it directly. Talking to your car and licking it's sensors on your solar pen would test the presence of illicit drugs in your saliva. If you miss-place your pen you could lick and blow your cars recognition system directly.
If your pen isn't working because of cold weather and all else fails you could always try blowing in the exaust pipe

Drivers licenses would be made with a magnetic strip to enable other members in the family as well as automotive repairmen to swipe their licenses in your cars recognition system and use their own solar pen to start her up.
The police would be able to suspend your license on the spot from from a particular date: from one day to 3 months by putting your drivers license into their machine and encoding the expiration date of the license suspension. Drivers booked for speeding would be able to opt for a suspension rather than a fine.
The police could encode exemptions on your drivers license to enable you to drive directly to police station, regular shopping center, and directly to and from work. Adherence to that would be recoded by the car by the recognition systems GPS tracking and logging of traveling. Because the Police behaving like revenue hunters as hunting quotas of license suspensions causes damage to the the welfare of families. Canceling someones license without an exemption to drive to and from work could make unemployed and lead them on a life of crime just to pay the regular bills like everyone has to pay to live.

It has been a long time dream since the 50's that someday cars would be able to drive their occupants to their destination. My method `Highway Intranet' would be to have a computer system that not only illuminates every Highway, Road, Street, but builds up a 3D image of every path in the City. Cars would have video camars and would transmit refreshing information in-relation to a route to each streets computer system as-well as the dimensions of the vehicle. Every time a car entered another street its video view would refresh that computer systems understanding of everything in it's path. Each streets computer would be responsible in positioning, spacing, every car along it's journey in that street. The streets computer system would be able to interact with computer systems of of intersecting streets and would play the cars positions like a computer chess game
