I know, I know...'global warming' is a phenomena which has been discussed ad nauseum. However, this is the second year running that the people in India are facing the wrath of Nature.
For instance, the weather at this time of the year used to be quite bearable in Calcutta. But since 2007, this has changed drastically. Calcutta is under the grip of a severe heat wave which, according to the Met. Dept, is a clear fallout of the 'global warming' phenomena.

indeed global warming will continue unabated in areas that need to be dried out....desertification

But in other areas the Ice Clouds will accumulate

The climate that is unfolding shows a clear disruption to the hydrology cycle on this planet

Unless the oil layer is removed from the seas, the global climate will eventually become Ice Clouds....... snowball Earth next station..... all aboard ?

For the record, the current temperature in Calcutta at 12:10pm(Local Time) is 36 degree Celcius which is atlest 2 degrees above normal !

Thanks, many more weather records at both ends of the spectrum to be broken yet.

It would be nice IF you are in Calcutta, to send a weather report at temperature extremes, and the rainfall etc...clear skies... Ice Clouds (high wispy or almost squarish cellular clouds )

Thanks again.

As I said before, its very hot and humid in Calcutta now.
And it is a hot May Day! wink.gif

I AM in Calcutta. wink.gif

Its 7 PM now here and the temperature is 34 degrees C.
However, due to the high humidity percentage (60), it feels like 40 degrees !

What other info do you want? Please be as specific as you can.

And where are you based? What's the weather out there like? Are you getting affected by the impact of global warming?

*snicker*...Every time there's a heat wave somewhere it's global warming. Also if you live in India, and you believe that humans are responsible for your heat problems then you can hardly complain as your country is one of the largest contributors to the "problem".

Primo: I started this thread to engage in stimulating discussions, not to complain.
Secendo: As an Indian I would be the first to admit that my country contributes a lot to accentuating the serious problem of global warming.
Having said that, its the US and the European counties which are the main culprits.
Go by the facts, mate. No point trying to be a smart Alec.

You have not bothered to mention which country you belong to. Come clean, man! dry.gif

Well then perhaps you should refrain from complaining. biggrin.gif

'Secendo: As an Indian I would be the first to admit that my country contributes a lot to accentuating the serious problem of global warming."

Well that's your problem. Get up on your cross if you want to, I for one hold your country blameless because I don't believe in the flying spaghetti monster called anthropogenic global warming. I was simply pointing out your own hypocrisy.

I do go by the facts and as such I don't think that 3 gigatons of CO2 per year can have any significant impact on overall warming. Especially knowing that CO2 itself is responsible for such a VERY low percentage of the overall effect.

"You have not bothered to mention which country you belong to. Come clean, man!"

Gladly, I'm an American and proud of it. Mostly proud because my country by and large has been immune to the proselytizing socialist zealots who hound constantly on this particular fable.
Leonides
Ah! So you are an American.
Well if I were as ignorant about US citizens as you are about Indians, I would most certainly have been as smug and hypocritical like you. dry.gif
Modernmystic
Uh you were smug and hypocritical in your response to Zarkov. I pointed that out. I'd be happy to explain it to you like I would to my 3 year old cousin if you're having trouble keeping up.

Buddy, I am not as bad a guy as you probably take me to be. I am a pretty straight-forward person and I appreciate your frankness.

I am sorry if I offended you. It was a clear case of mis-interpretation.

As for Zarkov, you have my word of honor that I had no intention of being hypocritical. If it seemed to be so to you, then please accept my apologies.

I hope all's well between us now.

Glad to know that, buddy! biggrin.gif

Incidentally, would you do me a favor (if I am not asking too much)? Could you suggest some good forums/ sites for discussing philosophy and literature?

Thanks.

hey mate
I never take offense nor did I even think you were throwing one...

I was pleased that you were offering local information...very pleased as I have asked this of posters on many forums and they all just play dumb
Good work !!! smile.gif

I would like to know what clouds are in your sky... if any ?

Is there any talk of drought in your region ?

Has it rained as often as it used to years ago ?

I am particularly interested in ICE CLOUDS

In the world's oceans OXYGEN levels are down

In the atmosphere carbon dioxide levels are up

The oil membrane remains

AND

oxygen-poor regions of tropical oceans are expanding as the oceans warm

The petroleum oil membrane on the surface of the oceans is preventing/inhibiting ocean water/atmosphere gas exchanges

AND

it is preventing water evaporation which leads to ocean heating... no heat loss

All the science is complete... and the consequences are inevitable.
