While i was chatting with a friend of mine he told me that

"Because we have many joints with fluids in it.when you are standing up because of gravity all
the bone tend to stack on each other and the liquids give way to the bones piling down.The
muscles around the bones can strech and contract as required.When you are flat the bones strech
apart at joints and you grow taller.If you measure, then you will notice it in millimeteres"

Surely you mean "Does Human Height Differ While Lying Down?"
Of course it could depend upon what you are laying down.
Seriously, why do you find this so hard to believe?
The explanation seems cogent to me.
Anyway, I presume it wouldn't be terribly difficult to measure this. I would suggest that the measurement for the lying down state be taken after a night's sleep thereby giving the body enough time to extend to the maximum possible extent.
