Designing And Developing New Musical Instruments.

We see so many musical instruments viz Guitar, Drum, Piano, Violin, Harmonium, Sitar, Sarod, Mouth Organ, Flute, Accordion, Banjo, Trumpet, Saxophone etc

One would like to design and develop new musical instruments.
Will it be easier for Music Directors/Composers, Singers and those having a music aptitude ?.

Can one have a Database created for all the Musical Instruments and study the sound waves created by each ?.

How one can achieve this ?.
